Recognizing Diversity in the CRE Community in Celebration of Black History Month
Here at The Content Funnel, we strive to recognize organizations doing incredible things for our industry. And one such organization is REAP (The Real Estate Associate Program). REAP is an industry-backed, market-driven program that matches talented minority professionals with the successful real estate companies searching for that kind of talent.

Over 1,000 talented persons seeking a career in commercial real estate have graduated REAP programs, and many have been placed in leading firms across the world. REAP continues to empower commercial real estate professionals to rise to the top of their field.
In honor of Black History Month, we would like to do our own part to recognize minority professionals and the impact they are making on the commercial real estate industry. Here are just a few professionals we’d like to recognize.
Cecil Flournoy, a REAP associate from the city of Los Angeles, is passionate about both his work in commercial real estate and his charitable projects. As a HUD Programs Manager for the City of Inglewood, he has developed skills in government affairs, international relations, urban planning and community outreach. And his over 22 years with Meals on Wheels is just one example of his commitment to giving back.
Christopher Pierre’s background is in architecture, design and construction so he truly understands the importance of a good foundation when it comes to commercial real estate. Chris approaches every design project by looking for a problem to solve. He currently works as a Managing Director for the urban focused commercial real estate firm, Pierre Design and Development in Atlanta. He attended Howard University to obtain his degree in Architecture and Georgia State University for his Masters in Real Estate.
Akil Hameed is a REAP associate who works as CEO of FASS Real Estate Services in Cleveland, Ohio. Some of his responsibilities running that organization include real estate sales, leasing, commercial transactions, and marketing. He attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University for his higher education prior to his big moves in the commercial real estate industry.
Cicely Anderson has worked in residential property management for more than nine years and is now working in the asset management and property management division of Duke Realty in Atlanta. Some of her responsibilities include asset management, property management, and customer service functions for nearly 1 million square feet of industrial sites in the North Gwinnett market. She attended Kennesaw State University and Georgia State University.
Derrick Holland began his early education at the University of Wisconsin and then went on to receive a Master’s degree from Mercer University. Today he can be found working as a director for Trinity Group in real estate services. Derrick coordinates real estate investment opportunities in a variety of sectors and markets, and is responsible for assembling the execution team, developing plans, securing funding and managing the overall construction.
Jocelyn Moore claims a coveted position as part of the National Football League (NFL) as the SVP of Public Policy and Government Affairs. Her background is in English and Education from the University of Florida, and her resume is full of accolades from organizations like the French-American Foundation, NACHC, and the Children’s Dental Health Project.
Today Karrie Howard can be found running for Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas as a Judge in the Cleveland Area. He also serves as Counsel for Thacker Robinson Zinz LPA in the criminal justice defense representation. He received his Certification in Leadership and Human Resource Management from University of Maryland College.
Kaylin Whittingham is passionate about legal ethics, attorney discipline defense and business immigration. She is the managing attorney at Whittingham Law, New York’s premier legal ethics and business immigration law firm, and is part of organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Association of Black Women Attorneys, Black Women of Influence, and Network of Bar Leaders.
Melissa Fleury is a New York native and an established business professional and entrepreneur who has worked both in the financial services and real estate industries. She is passionate about mentoring, planning community development programs and establishing a consulting firm focused on developing and branding millennial talent in the workplace. Melissa studied economics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Odest Riley, Jr. received his Bachelor’s in Public Relations at Columbia College and has over 10 years of management experience. His experience doesn’t include just real estate but retail, financial, non-profit and insurance. His real passion is improving the African American business and political climate in Los Angeles. Currently he is working as the CEO for the real estate and lending company WLM Financial. And through his work there he seeks to provide urban development and financing opportunities in minority based communities.
Quick Mack first got his education in Applied Resources and Managerial Economics at Cornell University. Today he works for the powerhouse that is Walmart Stores, as a Senior Realty Manager in Industrial Properties. In that role, Quick manages and maintains 122 Million square feet of real estate for the United States Distribution Network. He also partners with transportation and logistics in support of next generation supply chain strategy.
Robert Davis is a real estate professional with 10 years of experience in management, valuation, acquisition, development and disposition of commercial real estate. He has negotiated $50M worth of transactions from excess parcel deals to multiple parcel land assemblages. Robert currently works for the home improvement giant Lowe’s as a real estate manager in North Carolina. His duties include property management, and new store development.
Shawn Gregoire, an associate for REAP, received her BA from DePaul University and a Master’s in Real Estate for Roosevelt University. She has worked in various prestigious real estate organizations to include Draper and Kramer, The Habitat Company, Cedar Street Companies and now JLL. JLL is a Fortune 500 professional services and investment management firm specializing in real estate where Shawn is an Assistant General Manager.
Shicara Hollie has plenty of education under her belt after her time at University of North Texas, Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University. Today she works in Global Platform Knowledge and Strategy at CBRE. CBRE is a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company headquartered in Los Angeles and is the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm with over 70,000 employees and 400 offices worldwide.
Staci Stout is a Senior Analyst of Public Institutions for the prestigious JLL commercial real estate organization. And before she became an associate for REAP and an analyst at JLL, she obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University, and later a Master’s degree in Real Estate Finance at Georgetown University.
Tiffany Harris resides in Kansas City, Missouri and is a mover and shaker in the real estate industry there. She currently serves as Assistant Property Manager for Copaken Brooks, a full-service commercial real estate firm serving the Midwest. She has also previously worked for the Habitat for Humanity Kansas City and Sprint.
Last but not least, Valissa Howard is the First Assistant Deputy Inspector General and Chief of Staff at the Cuyahoga County Agency of Inspector General. Prior to joining the AIG she was an Associate Attorney with a legal and consulting firm in San Francisco. She’s passionate about being a community leader and serving as a board of directors member for Women of Color in Law, Inc. She obtained degrees from University of California at Irvine, Cleveland State University, and CWRU School of Law.
