How to use Content Marketing to get noticed at New York Deal Making

The upcoming ICSC New York National Deal Making event will eclipse the past two years’ events. The must-attend conference for deal making and networking will draw over 10,000 attendees to the Javits Convention Center. Its four pavilions will host over 500 exhibitors. With such a massive draw, Content Marketing is the best solution for getting noticed by the right people at New York Deal Making. We recommend starting with the five strategies below:

  1. Use the event hashtag #NYnDM and tag the @ICSC account. Design specially written posts and tweets using this hashtag or tag. Vendor or exhibitor? Share what visitors will gain from stopping by your booth. Conference attendee? Let fellow attendees know what you’re looking forward to, the panel sessions you’re planning to attend, or share a networking goal.
  2. Blog about it. Attended the ICSC New York Deal Making in prior years? Consider writing an advice blog for newbies. Discuss what you’re expecting to learn from the event or provide a preview on your presentation. Build more traction by posting the blog early and not the week of the event.

  3. Identify influencers and engage with them. Before New York Deal Making, find the top influencers attending the event and make contact on their social platforms by retweeting, sharing, or commenting. Pose questions related to what they are bringing to ICSC.

  4. Do Something Unique. There are thousands upon thousands of New York Deal Making attendees clamoring for attention. Find a way to cut through the networking noise and make your brand stand out. Make attendees smile or give them a chuckle through your Content Marketing effort. Marketo cited the example of Zynga, which sent 50 customized VIP invitations with a ‘deluxe Hangover Kit’ before a late Friday conference presentation slot. Another company used “gorilla” marketing by running an event-only campaign where users who found the gorilla in the conference hall and snapped a social photo with a unique event hashtag were eligible to win a special promotion.

  5. Thank presenters socially. Stay active during ICSC by keeping the conversation going with your key influencers. Tell them what you learned from their workshop and use the event hashtags to receive more traction. If you have a question that didn’t get answered, ask it as long as it’s not too specific to your company.

Use Content Marketing to generate buzz well before December 5. With a savvy plan, making the most of your networking and brand building time at ICSC Deal Making will be a cinch!
